What Is the Amashova National Classic?
The Amashova National Classic is South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious road cycling race, entering its 39th edition in July 2025. Set between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, this race combines challenging routes, historical landmarks, and KwaZulu-Natal’s gorgeous winter scenery.

1. 132 km Champion’s Choice
- Start: Nelson Mandela Capture Site, Howick (07:00)
- Age: 16+
- Timing: R140 timing board required
2. 106 km Pietermaritzburg Classic
- Start: Pietermaritzburg City Hall (07:30)
- Age: 14+
- Timing: Optional R140 board
3. 65 km Half Challenge
- Start: Cato Ridge (06:30)
- Age: 12+
4. 38 km Family Fun Ride
- Start: M13 Shongweni/Hillcrest exit (06:30)
