Gillitts at a glance

Gillitts is located roughly 35 km inland from Durban CBD. Durban is known to be very humid during the summer season but Gillitts is above the humidity level and is often less humid and cooler than Durban. It is also known for its mist belt and this is often occurring in the evening and is a welcomed relief to a very humid day. Its neighboring suburbs are Hillcrest and Kloof and offer a variety of activities and shopping centers. It is boarded by the M13 making the areas a popular choice of residency for those who are on the move.

Gillitts is also seen as a quieter suburb while Kloof and Hillcrest are expanding and growing with the residential demands. Gillitts was originally part of the various farmlands that extended over the Upper Highway area and over time, parts of the farm were sold off leaving only the 100-year-old farmhouse which is now known as the Emberton Estate Club House. 

Houses in the area are set on an average plot size of half-an-acre with very litter commercial property around. Residents enjoy the conservancy and lush greenery in the area, creating a calming, cooling and country-like feeling outside of the busy cities.
