How the Budget Speech Can Work for You

Category News

The Annual Budget Speech is always met with a mix of emotions in South Africa. The turbulence of our political and socio-economic climate means that pleasing every sector is no mean feat. Whilst Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s detailed plans brought about a few winces, the overwhelming feeling was that he made the best of a very difficult situation.

Whilst many deemed it to be a ‘Robin Hood’ approach, there is every opportunity for property investors to capitalise on the changes made.

Relief will be provided to the property market in the form of an increase in the threshold value of transfer duty payable. With effect from 1 March 2017, transfer duty will only apply to properties that are valued in excess of R900 000. We expect to see a marked increase in the number of enquiries for plots as well as homes in Cotswold Downs as purchasers take advantage of this windfall. Properties on the estate are available from R850 000 for vacant land to R12m for a newly listed home of distinction on the 18th fairway. This is a must view!

There has never been a better time to invest your taxable income in a dependable asset such as property within a gated estate. The yields are incomparable and the potential returns from ‘buy to let’ options are simply superb. Emberton Estate in Hillcrest has 2 bed apartments available from R1,2m and freestanding 3 bed double garage homes fromR2,6m. The modern country living and world class facilities that Emberton Estate offers make this one of the best investment opportunities in the upper highway.

We are situated outside the Cotswold Downs front gate so why not give us a call to set up a meeting to view these opportunities. We would love to share our insights over a cup of coffee.
